Chris Molina is a filmmaker from Miami, Florida whose films focus on queer stories. He leans heavily on his personal experiences, often blurring the line between fiction and autobiography. In 2022, he was named the Miami New Times “Best Film Director” where it was reported he was becoming a “marquee name in the South Florida film scene.” He’s best known for his short films Is That All There Is? and The Truth of A Thousand Nights, and his debut feature, Fallen Fruit.
Fallen Fruit is on its festival run, playing the Miami Film Festival, Frameline, and winning the Audience Award for Best Feature at the Outshine Film Festival.
Chris’s other films have played festivals like Florida Film Festival, New Orleans Film Festival, Miami Film Festival, NoBudge, OUTshine Film Festival, and Indie Grits.
When he’s not making films, he’s programming them. Chris is one of the Short Film Programmers at the Miami Film Festival, where he’s been for about 5+ years. He’s also been a screener and assistant programmer at festivals like Outfest, the New York Latino Film Festival, and Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival.
Molina is fiercely passionate about growing the film community in Miami, bringing him to create the Sun Pass Film Festival and Anita’s Film Festivals. Sun Pass aims to platform emerging filmmakers, while Anita’s aims to bring a diverse range of queer films to Florida.
